Do you have any tile installers on staff?
At this time Gianni’s Tile Gallery Chatham does not have an installer on staff, however we can refer you to some of the most reliable tile setters in our area. Just come into our location to grab a card or call in for direct contact information!
Why do tile setters have different prices for similar installations?
There are so many factors that have to be considered before an installer can give you a price. Some installers may price the job as a grand total, charge by the hour or charge by their daily rate. Some factors that will affect your installation price are the following: Demolition / Prep-work / Type of Tile / Tile Pattern Layout / Labour only vs. materials included
What different types of tiles are there?
We offer ceramic, porcelain, glass, and natural stone tiles (ex: slate, marble, granite, travertine etc…) but the type of tile to be used would depend on the surface area of your home or business you want the tile applied to.
What is a PEI rating and why does it matter?
PEI stands for the Porcelain Enamel Institute. This rating is for porcelain tiles only which determines the hardness of the tile’s glaze. Depending on the number rating will determine what surface the tile is suitable for. The rating scale ranges from 1-5. On the low end 1 – is usually listed for wall tiles only (you cannot walk on them) and on the high end 5 – is suitable for high traffic areas like commercial buildings (ex: malls, airports, schools etc..)
